The end of the summer is here, and many of us are preparing for a new school year! Oh, how the summer has flown by leaving nothing behind but memories and sunkissed skin. As someone with a heart for the younger generations, I wanted to share an important concept to teach your kids before they return to school this year.
“You will only find fulfillment when you embrace your unique identity in Christ.”
When I was young, authenticity was incredibly hard because I didn’t know who I was. I felt different — just like every other young person. But instead of dissecting my differences and sinking into them, I did everything I could to blend in. It’s easy to believe that school aged kids should fall-in line with everyone else and only stand out for things that are praiseworthy and notable right?
You see, we were created in the image of God, but not all in the same way. God is intricately complex and has created each one of us to reflect different parts of Him. When we are hiding in who He created us to be, we aren’t fully reflecting His image into the world.
What does this have to do with school? As parents, we need to help our children deepen their self-discovery rather than focusing on academic and athletic achievement. We wonder why so many young people lack fulfillment, and it’s because we don’t spend enough time celebrating differences. What good is it for our children to come home with good grades and trophies if they still misunderstand the blueprint of their identity?
I never want to give empty advice, so I have researched ways to help young people deepen their sense of identity.
Remember, your children learn the most by what they see. Because of that, check out my FREE e-book: 5 Ways To Empower Your Children For A Fulfilling And Confident Life.
This book includes tips on affirming your children intentionally rather than just praising their performance. The book encourages independence so kids have room to explore who they are as children of God! It also gives tips for instilling confidence within your children that will empower them in their adult lives.
Consider reading this book before sending your children off to school this year. It’s a very quick read and gives helpful tips you can implement right away! You have the power to impact your children’s lives in ways far beyond vocab tests and complicated equations.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to make this school year different and leave a fulfilling impact.
